So I’ve got 25 days until I leave for Cancun. I am realizing that the bermuda shorts that once looked cute on me now look too big. I actually got thoroughly annoyed this morning because I couldn’t find pants to wear that didn’t look like it was 2 sizes too big for me. Luckily I have 2 pairs of jean shorts from long, long ago that I dug out (literally) from the bottom of my closet.

I tell David the dresses and skirts I’m bringing to Cancun and he just looks at me skeptically. “You need shorts that fit you and t-shirts. One or two dresses are okay, but we’re not going to be going out that much – we’ll just be on the beach or in the pool.” Right-o, fashion boyfriend. One thing I just realized: I don’t have too many casual shirts. Lots of casual dress, but not casual casual. Ever since boyfriend’s been harping on me about fashion I’ve become increasingly worried about how my clothes look and fit together. I actually think it’s a good thing, because I honestly do not have much fashion sense – I go for comfortable and easy to walk around in.

So I am more than likely going to have a midnight shopping spree at K-mart. Those are fun, by the way. You literally have the place and entire dressing room to yourself. I’m actually starting to scare myself with my fashion cravings…eep!

Car Nightmares. July 15, 2008

I keep having dreams that I am getting into car crashes, and when I wake up I have to remind myself that I’m a very good driver, follow all the traffic rules, and would probably never get into the kind of situations that occur in my dreams.

Last night I dreamed I was backing up and I hit my aunt’s very expensive car. There was only a small dent in it, but she insisted it would cost around $1500. The car actually started bleeding. I told my mother about it and she said she’d talk to my aunt – there was no way I could come up with $1500.

Then I dreamed the road was icy and I was slipping and sliding all over the place, and kept swerving into the other lane. I had a car dream the other night too, in which I totaled my mother’s toyota avalon. Every time I wake up I have to convince myself it didn’t happen, it most likely would not happen (though the sliding-on-ice dream is very relevant to the Chicago area in winter!), and I did not owe anybody $1500. Oh, yeah, and cars don’t bleed.

I used to have car nightmares all the time when I was young, and while I was learning to drive a few came up. But what is it with night after night of car nightmares??
